About us

We started because we just wanted to play.

No committee, no membership forms, no waiting list. Just a group of people who liked badminton and couldn't find anywhere that felt like home. So we built it.

How it started

Bulfam began in early 2025 when a handful of regulars kept crossing paths at the same public courts. The booking system was a nightmare, the lighting was terrible, and nobody knew anyone else's name.

We pooled together, rented a proper hall for one Saturday, and invited twenty people. Forty showed up. The next week was the same. By month three we had more regulars than courts, which is a good problem to have.

Today Bulfam runs five sessions a week across six courts, with a mix of coached drills, open play, and competitive doubles nights. Somehow it still feels like that first Saturday.

Where we are now

We operate out of a dedicated six-court hall with sprung flooring, proper LED lighting, and a small lounge area that always smells faintly of coffee and grip tape. It's ours, and it feels like it.

Our members span all walks — students, retirees, weekend warriors, a few ex-county players who've dialled it back. The only thing they share is that they show up.

We're not trying to become a franchise. We just want to keep being the kind of club we wished had existed when we were looking.

What we believe in

01

Everyone plays

We don't have a bench. Whether you've held a racket for thirty years or thirty minutes, you'll be on court — not watching from the sidelines.

02

No ego, just rallies

Leave the rankings at the door. We're here for the game, the sweat, and the chat after. Good vibes are a requirement.

03

Show up consistently

Community is built through repetition. The regulars know each other's backhands. That only happens when people keep coming back.

04

Help each other improve

Better players make weaker players better. We encourage that exchange — a tip here, a drill partner there. It compounds fast.
